Curse my crap memory

Mr Stuff

It’s 5.08am and I’ve been awake for about 40 mins or so now, took me a little while to just deal with it and get out of bed. It’s dark and cold, so not a lot of fun, and all because I forgot to take my horse tranquiliser last night.

I felt a bit rough after food last night but just dealt with it rather than taking my prescriptions like a good boy. I have noticed that my memory has been a bit crap in recent months, sometimes I will forget stuff within 5 minutes. Not little things like forgetting to do the hoovering but bigger stuff like not asking my doctor about stuff that I was meant to. And it’s getting annoying.

It is most probably because of the crappy diet I’ve had for the last year since yeaterday I just felt completely drained, everything was a lot of effort. I also noticed that my hands and feet were getting numb quicker than usual, they’ve been doing that for a while now and my previous doc didn’t think it was anything so we’ll see what the new one thinks.

Well it’s now 5.29, I had to make another coffee, and there is a show I want to watch at 11 so only 5 1/2 hours to wait and try to find something to do.

It’s Genius

Mr Stuff

Earlier in the year I bought myself an iPod touch because I was fed up and hadn’t bought myself anything nice all year, and Mr Stuff needs his toys. It’s a great toy and has loads of features to play about with, even more now that the App store has opened.

Anyway one of the features that was added a few months ago was the Genius playlist generator. You select a track that you’d like to use as the seed and it then piks other tracks in your library to make up a playlist using artist and genre information, and probably lots of other things. You can create the playlists in iTunes and transfer them across to any iPod, or if you have a touch or an iPhone then you can generate them on the device. The last time I updated the library on my iPod I made sure to pick a few things that I wouldn’t normally listen to because they turned up in playlists.

So here is the current playlist I am listening to, which I like a lot, the seed track is Beloved by VNV Nation.

  • Beloved – VNV Nation
  • Until the End of the World – Apoptygma Bezerk
  • Hooked – Seabound
  • Shallow Nation – Icon of Coil
  • Steelrose (Talla 2 XLC Mix) – Project Pitchfork
  • Ghost in the Circuit – Velvet Acid Christ
  • Darkangel – VNV Nation
  • Something for the Pain – Zeromancer
  • Intruder Alert – Combichrist
  • Furious Angels – Rob D
  • Satan – Orbital
  • Phucking phreak – Velvet Acid Christ
  • Prime Audio Soup – Meat Beat Manifesto
  • Heavyweight – Infected Mushroom
  • Genesis – VNV Nation
  • Former Self – Icon of Coil
  • Avalost (Instrumental) – Seabound
  • Need You Like a Drug – Zeromancer
  • Move Any Mountain (I.R.P. in the land of Oz)- The Shamen
  • Wound – Velvet Acid Christ
  • Joy to the World – Combichrist
  • Mona Lisa Overdrive – Juno Reactor
  • Legion – VNV Nation
  • Godlike (Chicago Trax Version) – KMFDM
  • Becoming Insane – Infected Mushroom

Is it Friday already

Mr Stuff

I’ve started losing track of which day it is now, it happens fairly quickly when you don’t have to go to work and don’t have any real plans for what to do each day. The last few days have been a blur of prescriptions and bad TV, especially Top Gear re-runs on Dave.

Today is also the last day of my employment, I haven’t heard anything about the meetings that went on this week and you’d like to think I’ll hear something today.

Anyway got to go now Clarkson is sliding a Ferrari around an airfield

When Curry Attacks!

Mr Stuff

Last night I was invited out for a curry with Eor and Mrs Buurd, and since I’ve only been out for a meal once this year I thought why not. There was a private party in the Kohi Noor so we went to the Natraj instead where I had Prawn Puri and a Sally Lamb all washed down with 2 pints of Cobra, hmm tasty.

Anyway when I got home I didn’t feel too bad and had a nice time so was feeling quite good, until 3am. At 3am it all went a bit wrong as I woke in a lot of pain and had to get up, and it was cold. It’s surprising just how slowly time passes when it’s that early in the morning but I managed to find stuff to play and watch while hiding under 2 blankets so that I didn’t freeze.

I’ve had a lot of coffee so far today to try and keep myself going and will most likely go for my fallback fish fingers and chips tonight as it’s quite plain and unlikely to cause any more discomfort.

I have a new doctor

Mr Stuff

I wandered up to Mrs Buurds doctors this morning and they were happy to take me on, which was tip top news. I filled out their little form which covered the prescriptions I’m taking and what is wrong with me. From tomorrow I will be in their system and able to make an appointment and it will take a few weeks for my notes to be taken across.

So I’ll probably make an initial appointment to see someone for next week and see if I fare any better with my new GP

Experimenting with drugs

Mr Stuff

Last night I decided not to take my horse tranquilisers again to see if it made any difference and to help me decide whether to stop them completely.

As the evening progressed I could almost feel their pain killing effects stopping as my niggly abdominal pain increased, but not so bad that I needed to take anything else. As I went to bed I felt a bit uncomfortable and not very sleepy. It took a while for me to get to sleep, about an hour or so, as the pain was making it uncomfortable to sleep on either side or on my back which was handy.

I then proceeded to wake up at 3 and again at 6 and both times was very tempted to get up but before I did I got back to sleep and finally got out of bed just after 10. I have since been in some discomfort which got worse after I had some jammy toast for lunch, walking about for 2 hours after eating was not a pleasant experience. So I’ve taken a few Co-dydramol to sort that out and think that, even though they make me feel crappy in the mornings, the Amitriptiline are actually working as pain killers so I may have to keep taking them.

I’m melting

Mr Stuff

When my illness started I weighed in at a respectable 14 1/2 stone, yeah I had a little bit of a beer gut but not that bad. I weighed myself this morning and I am now 12 stone 4, just over 2 stone lost in 11 months.

A lot of that is down to the fact that I haven’t really had any breakfast or lunch for most of the year and for a lot of the time have been living on fish fingers and chips. I just don’t feel like eating a lot of the time because of the nausea I feel. So during the day I tend to live on coffee, which I know isn’t going to be too good for me.

For the last month or so I’ve noticed that my watch is very loose and my rings tend to fall off my fingers a lot, and I really don’t want to lose my wedding ring. This morning it fell off my finger a few times so I had a look about in my stash of stuff to find a chain and now wear it around my neck. No chance of losing my precious now

I’ve hit a red tape barrier

Mr Stuff

I went to Mrs Stuff’s GP this morning to see if I could change doctors, a reasonable request you would have thought. Apparently not. They won’t just let me change because I want to, if I’d just moved into the area or wasn’t registered anywhere else then no problem, because there are aparently so many people wanting the limited places that are available.

So it looks like I may be stuck with my doctor for a while. Time to look into getting a second opinion with a private consultant

UPDATE

I just got off the phone with Mrs Buurd who had phoned her doctors and they said there was no such red tape with them. So I’ll pop up there tomorrow and see about getting a new GP sorted

If you’re going to cover a song put the effort in

Mr Stuff

There are 2 types of song covers in the world, those that make the song theirs and those that just copy it. Most of the poppy crappy bands of today take the latter approach while bands that have some talent usually make the song theirs.

I like Marilyn Manson and consider him to have one of the best cover bands I’ve heard because he owns the track and puts the effort in to give it his sound. On the other side of the coin you have the likes of All Saints and their pitiful cover of Under the Bridge, the less said about that the better.

Anyway I’m not going to rant on about this much more but the thought occured to me when I was doing a bit of work and Scuzz was on in the background when an advert for Enter Shikari covering Insomnia came on. It’s not a bad cover, I love the original, but at least they put some effort into it.

Some Pics

Mr Stuff

I’m not that great a photographer but I can take a nice pic every now and then. These aren’t that great as I took them on my phone’s camera but I figured why not put them up here for your entertainment.

Nice sunset

While wandering back from the Co-op the other day the sunset looked quite nice so I took a pic of it, bit blurry but you get the idea.

Prescription House

I have so many prescriptions lying about, although only 4 of them are repeat prescriptions, that I thought I’d make a nice house out of them

In case anyone was interested these boxes contain:

  • 2 types of anti-nausea tablets
  • Migraine tablets
  • my anti-depressants
  • my horse tranquilisers
  • Pain killers
