Ooh it’s a biggun

Mr Stuff

I had an idea for a FU memory issues tattoo and took it to the studio that did my last one. Gave them the brief and general idea and was booked in for a day session.

On Saturday I had that session and after a chat to the tattoo artist the idea changed a bit, keeping the core image, but turned into a half sleeve. 7 1/2 hours later I’ve got the majority of a tattoo done and need to go back in January to finish it off, only 3 hours more work.

And I’m really pleased with the result so far, the ideas he had work really well and even though it hurt like hell to have done in glad I did it. Roll on January 23rd

And another

Mr Stuff

Hot on the heels of my last tattoo I’ve gone and booked another one in. It’s going to be another FU illness one, the last one seemed to improve my mood, and this time a big FU to my memory issues.

I’m not going to go into detail about it yet, you’ll have to wait until it’s done, but I’m booked in for a day session to get it done. That’s 11 until 6 or 7 depending on how long it takes. Given my biggest so far was only 3 hours it should be quite the showstopper.

I put a lot of thought into what it should be and fortunately found a pic to use as the basis quite quickly so just needed to build on that. But I will say it sums up how I feel about the memory issue and I’m really looking forward to getting it done, just not too excited about the 7 hours of pain

Say hello to my little friend

Mr Stuff

I had some more ink done yesterday and who knew I had a vestigial twin inside my leg. Well at least now he can see what’s going on, unless I’m wearing trousers. Hmmm maybe he didn’t think this through 😀

Oops I did it again

Mr Stuff

So I hit 40 not long ago and wondered what to get myself as a pressie, I thought about a new mobile or some more games but thought something more permanent would be best and a new tattoo needed to be designed, but what to get?

After much thinking I decided that I really liked the bio mech style and set about getting a design sorted with Wicked Needles in town, I didn’t want something that everyone has. After a few weeks they had the design and I booked it in.

The main issue was because of the complicated nature of it, and the amount of shading, it took 3 hours, which initially worried me but I’m determined to keep getting better at going out. So I did.

One big thing I found out while having it done was that 2 3/4 hours of tattooing is when I reach my pain threshold but I persevered and the guy did a fantastic job. It currently hurts a bit, ike a big burn, but that should only last another day or so.

But enough waffling here is the pic

Very happy with tattoo

Mr Stuff

It’s scabbing up and I have to make sure not to scratch it but am really pleased with how it has turned out.

The 2 main worries were pain and how it would look. The pain was easily manageable, even though it’s on my inside forearm which is meant to be very sensitive. It feels like a sunburn and isn’t itchy or annoying at all. As for the look the artist did a fantastic job of making it look how I wanted and kept asking my opinion on things.

I am also really pleased that I found an image that means something to me, there is a story behind it. Much better IMO than getting something popular.

All in all a great experience and I have an idea of something to put on the other arm to balance things out. I’ll have a good think about it & not rush, this one was thought about for a year or so. I’m going to keep my ideas for the next one secret until it’s done, so watch this space in the next few months.

Got Inked

Mr Stuff

I’ve been up since 3.30 this morning with my usual pain and nausea but today was tattoo day so that made me feel a bit better. I did get quite anxious from about 8.30 but went ahead with it.

The guys at the studio made me feel really comfortable and in the end it only took about 50 mins or so. But enough of that you all want to see the pic so here it is. This was just after it was finished.

Stuff gets inked

Mr Stuff

For a while now I’ve been thinking about maybe getting a tattoo but wasn’t sure what to get or where, since I don’t want to get a cut and paste tattoo. But I’ve finally gone and got the process started. I have put a deposit down and am getting it done on May 14th at BJ’s Studio in Woolston (http://www.bjstattoo.com/)

The idea behind the tattoo is sending a big FU to my illness, maybe even mocking it, and is a thing that I need to do for my own sanity and piece of mind. The tattoo will be of a voodoo doll with a ? on it’s abdomen, symbolising the undiagnosed nature of my condition, and I’m getting it on my right forearm because I wanted it to be very visible so I feel better about the illness FU.

Here is the pic that the piece is based on a tattoo done be Tanya Magdalena from www.abovethepearl.com.

Voodoo Doll

Oh and since I decided to go for it and put that up on Twitter I have gotten follows from Darren Brass and Yoji Harada from Miami Ink, which is cool. It was watching their show that gave me the inspiration for getting one having seen people wanting nice artwork with a story behind it, before that I always thought of tattoo’s as cut and paste skulls or tribal gunf.
